An Amazing Opportunity

Dear friends and family,

This last year of our lives has been absolutely incredible. We have experienced so much change and growth in the last year. We have been blessed tremendously by YOU – our friends and family members who have supported us in such a big way as we began our first year of marriage. We cannot express enough gratitude for that!

One instrument that God has really used to help shape us these last couple years is our church. We have been attending Mission Community Church in Gilbert, AZ for almost two years. When we first began attending Mission, we became volunteers in the high school ministry and have loved every minute of it. Leading a high school small group has not only given us an remarkable opportunity to pour our lives into high school students and see God’s love transform their lives, but we also have been challenged,. The theme verse for our church is Micah 6:8 which says,

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you

but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

We have strived to live this out in our daily lives. One way our church has put this into action is by partnering up with a collection of small villages in Malawi, Africa, called Chikudzulire. Our church has sent multiple teams to Chikudzulire over the last couple years ranging from medical teams, to carpentry teams, to visionary teams.

This summer, the church is sending a group of 24 high school students and 5 leaders to Chikudzulire. Nicole and I have the amazing opportunity to be leaders on this trip. We will be leaving on June 10th, and returning June 25th. Ministry details are still being worked on, but the team will be involved in a number of activities, including:

  • Participating in the ministry with Somebody Cares HBC volunteers (an organization that reaches out to those affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic).
  • Helping to feed the orphans and vulnerable children in the programs funded through our church
  • Digging holes and laying concrete for toilets at the new feeding centers
  • Working with the Somebody Cares by teaching English, playing with children, and performing dramas and songs.
  • Participating in any other ministry opportunities that arise.

As we prepare for this trip, we cannot do it alone. For this reason we write you to ask you to participate in this incredible opportunity with us. We would like to humbly ask you to partner with us in at least one of these two ways:

The cost for this trip will be $3,300 each – this means we will have to raise $6,600. Thinking about this amount can be overwhelming, but we know that God will provide.  We ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting us financially on this journey. It’s honestly pretty difficult for us to ask for money, but we would be greatly humbled if you decided to give and participate with us on this trip.

While money is important, it comes in a distant second to our need for your prayer support. Prayer support is so important in the success of this mission. We will need prayers that God will bless our efforts as we minister to the people of Malawi. Pray also for the hearts of everyone going on this trip – we pray that God will not only work through us, but in us and the lives of the students.

If you feel God is leading you to participate in this journey with us financially, below are some instructions on how you can do so.

We appreciate your help whether it be through prayer, or financially, or both. Going on this trip would not be possible without your support. Thank you so much for your help. We look forward to seeing what God is going to do on this journey and we will be posting updates about our experiences from the trip. Please check back for further updates and fundraising events we will be organizing as we prepare for this journey.

God Bless,

Mike and Nicole Zins
